About Us

The Armchair Advice website was originally launched to offer a one-stop resource for people in mid-career who suddenly find themselves without work through redundancy or dismissal. It is published by Greg Paine, who like some of his intended audience found himself the unwilling recipient of his P45. The idea developed into the other Armchair Advice sites, which now also support and assist people through other traumatic life events.

"I had a long and successful career in advertising, most recently for a major internet company. When I lost my job I wanted a single resource that could help me – I wanted to know what my options were and where I could find professional help, ideas and new opportunities. Most of all, I wanted to be able to connect with others in the same situation and share experiences, wisdom and advice.

After searching the internet I found lots of information but in many different places and different formats, some easy to use, some less readily accessible. I set about putting together everything I needed into an easy-to-use format and have continued from there. I am constantly trying to improve the site so would value your feedback. If appropriate I will try to incorporate it as the site evolves.

The legal advice on Armchair Advice has been reviewed and is updated for accuracy by solicitors. However it is merely intended to be an overview and we would strongly recommend that you contact your own solicitor who will be able to advise you on your own specific circumstances.

I hope you find the site useful, and would very much appreciate your comments and feedback, favourable or otherwise.
